I am a PhD Candidate broadly interested in how early social development is linked to adult behavioral traits through epigenetic modifications. While studies like these have been successful in laboratory environments on a few controlled species and humans, studies on free
living animals are few and far between. I hope to utilize next-generation genetic techniques, perfected in laboratory environment, in a field setting to study the developmental mechanisms underlying persistent adult behavioral traits in spotted hyenas (Crocuta crocuta).
